Rules for Atkins Water and Magpie Lakes
Barbless hooks only

All anglers need a valid EA rod license before fishing.

Anglers under 16 need adult supervision.

Fishing hours are 7am-7pm from April 1st to Oct 31st and 7am-4pm from Nov 1st to Mar 31st.

Use provided landing nets and unhooking mats, don't bring from other lakes.
-
No keep nets or braided lines allowed.
-
Maximum hook size is 14 for Magpie 12 for Atkins, and only 1 rod or pole per person.

Don't leave tackle unattended and take all litter home with you.
-
No meat, beans, nuts, or floating baits allowed.
-
No alcohol, drugs, drones, bait boats, BBQs, or dogs allowed.
-
Don't harm or feed wildlife, and no fish may be removed from the lake.

No elasticated feeders allowed.

General Rules & Guide for Members at Leland Water

Members Guest Tickets - £25 for 24 hours

Members may bring up to two guests at a time, Member’s guest tickets must be booked in advance with John Dyer in person or by telephone but need not be pre-paid.

Members and their guests may night fish. Guests must be in possession of the appropriate permission/ticket and the member must also be fishing the water at the time.

Members are responsible for their guest’s behavior.

General
-
All tickets cover the use of TWO rods only from 1st April – 30th September THREE Rods permitted from 1st October – 31st March
-
Anglers are reminded that an Environment Agency rod license is required (two or three rod license) to fish two or three rods when permitted.

The EA visit the lake and will prosecute any angler infringing this rule.

The club receives regular and invaluable help from the EA in managing Leland Water and they have our full support in this matter.

Leland Water management reserve the right to enforce EA rules on their behalf should the behavior of anglers on the lake demand it.

All anglers must carry their permits or tickets at all times and must produce them when asked by a bailiff or other members.

Permits and tickets are NOT transferable.
-
Members are honorary bailiffs of Leland Water and as such are able to check tickets and report any rule breaking by either Members or Guests.

Members will be expected to attend organized working parties.

This may change at the discretion of the committee. Any change will be conveyed via the Leland Facebook page, email or on the notice board in member’s hut.

Around The Leland Water Site :

Members and guests must use the member’s car park and close and lock the gate and only use the gate in the middle of the car park to go through the otter fence.

PLEASE MAKE SURE THE GATE THROUGH THE OTTER FENCE IS SHUT AT ALL TIMES.!

Use of vehicles elsewhere on the site is restricted to the Fishery Managers for management purposes only.

All anglers must sign IN and OUT in the logbook provided in the member’s hut inside the otter fence. As an aid to management, please record details of your catch including any significant weights and contact details.

All anglers must stay within Leland Water fenced boundaries at all times and must not trespass on adjacent farmland or in the woodland. These areas are private.

No dogs are allowed anywhere on the WAC lake fisheries except with the consent of the Leland Water Managers or WAC Committee.

Introduction to, or removal from, Leland Water of any fish, plant or other wildlife is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN without express permission of the Fishery Manager. In particular, removal of fish from
-
Leland Water, under any pretext, WILL RESULT IN PROSECUTION. Fish MUST NOT be transferred between the lakes on the site.

Anglers may NOT dig out or trim swim areas, trees or emergent weed in front of the swims or elsewhere on the site without permission and instruction from the Fishery Manager.

When Fishing :
-
The use of braided line is forbidden.
-
Minimum line breaking strain 12lb (5.5kg)
-
All normal angling methods, baits and ground baits are allowed but NO PEANUTS excessive pre-baiting or excessive use of nuts is not permitted or necessary.

No reserving of swims no buckets in swims
-
Surplus bait MUST NOT be left on the bank at the end of the day as this encourages rats.
-
Remote controlled “bait boats” are not allowed.
-
Bivvies’ may be erected IN THE SWIM ONLY, not elsewhere. No other camping is allowed. Swims may NOT be reserved.
-
Please be sensible when it comes to snag/heavy weed fishing. If there’s a chance of a fish making a snag or kiting into a snag, please don’t do it and always bivvy up next to your rods.

There are some swims that are unsuitable for night fishing due to the number of snags and trees in close proximity.

Anglers may fish only one swim at a time and rods must not be left “fishing unattended” AT ANY TIME.
What are the rules and regulations for fishing at Leland Water?
Barbless hooks only
No braided line even the hook length.

Litter and discarded line/tackle will NOT be tolerated. Whether or not the angler fishing the swim was responsible for it or not, HE/SHE MUST REMOVE IT.

If tackle is lost out of reach (in trees or on islands) John Dyer must be informed or a note to the effect left on the Gatehouse blackboard.
-
Unless you are alone on the water, your swim extends no further than the centre of the lake.
-
Be quiet and considerate to others. Bite alarms must not be set louder than necessary or such that they disturb other anglers. Radio’s/TV’s etc. must not be audible outside the angler’s swim.
-
The banging in of pegs, brolly poles etc. while other anglers are fishing, is totally unnecessary. Give occupied swims as wide a berth as possible. Torch-lit swims.

Tilley Lamps etc. are not allowed. Torches must not be shone across the water.

Take care of our fish : Having a separate Net, Weigh sling and Unhooking mat for Leland is recommended alternatively all unhooking mats,
-
landing nets and weigh slings must be dry on arrival or dipped in the disinfectant tank inside the otter fence gate.
-
Bio security on all our lakes is imperative to keep our fish and their habitats safe for the future.
-
Each angler must have access to their own landing net of at least 42” and must not be sharing with a friend in another swim. Unhooking mats must be used for tench, bream as well.
-
Unhooking mats with raised sides and of a decent size with at least 75mm padding in the bottom or a cradle type mat must be used for carp.

Also, the use a bucket/container of lake water to keep fish wet at all times and the use of an
-
antiseptic designed for fish hook holds/body damage to be used on all carp. (See images above).

You must return fish immediately unless photographs are required. In which case, set up cameras before removing fish from the water keeping their time out the water to a minimum.

Members ONLY can use the boat only for the purpose of rescuing weeded fish.

“However, any member using the boat must wear a life jacket and have another member or angler present for safety reasons.
-
A manually inflatable life Jacket is available in the entrance lodge, please return it after use.”

All fish deaths whether caused by anglers or “from natural causes” must be reported to John Dyer or a note to the effect left on the blackboard in the member’s hut.

These Rules and ticket prices apply from April 1st 2023 until further notice. They apply equally to Leland Water Members and their guests except where any differences are shown.

Alterations to these Rules or any special circumstances (e.g. a short-term keep net ban) will be displayed on the notice board in the member’s hut.

There will be no closure of fishing on the lake except for when the fish are spawning and this will be notified via email, the Leland Facebook page and in the member’s hut.

The Club is very keen to preserve the generally quiet and enjoyable atmosphere that has prevailed at Leland Water so far and these Rules and Notes of Guidance are drawn up to further this aim.

Please understand that the Club WILL NOT tolerate willful disregard of these Rules and may, in extreme circumstances, following a formal warning, BAN any Member or Ticket holder from the water.
