Crabtree Society visit Waterbeach Angling Club

Updated: May 27

Visit by Members of the Cambridge Branch Crabtree Society 17 05 2024

A very warm welcome to Russ and members of the Cambridge Branch of the Society. Very pleasing to see the old methods still being used today. Use of cane rods and centre pin reels. From early on fish were being caught from all parts of the lake including Tench & Crucians. Various baits being tried all proving to be successful. A break for lunch and catch up amongst the members to find out what bait and methods being used were working.

Simon Trinder into a Crucian                          Well pleased with this specimen

Beautiful Lily pad just a few on the lake            Just one of the wildlife seen on the day

Lovingly kept vintage fishing tackle in use       Miniature Horse Chestnut tree new growth

Jonathan White in amongst the Roach               Russ Smith enjoying the venue

Greg Bell unimpressed with a snotty         Tony Chillingworth with a fine Tench

Steve Chambers catching a decent Rudd          Phil Buckingham with a good sized Bream

Almost all of the anglers managed to catch six different species. All members were very happy with the catches on the day and look forward to returning very soon.
